RidgeWords: Website by Lillian Marks Heldreth
Neither I nor anyone else knows what may show up on this website, because I am new to the whole process of building a site. But, since Mac no longer supports Mobile Me, I am forced to find another place to post pictures, write blogs, and otherwise upload items I would like to present in a format more thoughtful and long-range than Facebook (although I enjoy that venue for its basic purpose of keeping in touch). Here you may find, as I develop the site, a gallery of ceramic work from past endeavors, or chapters from a children's book I'm currently writing, or pictures from my family's travels, plus commentary on whatever is happening around me.
The site name, which will also apply to the blog section, comes from my family's old home, now mine, perched on the crest of a ridge in Fayette County, West Virginia. The Upper Place, as it was known in my childhood, was dear to my father, who was born there, and to me. All that I see and perceive is somehow filtered through memories of that place, among the trees, rocks and springs of the great Appalachian Mountains.
